About Economic Development Board
The Economic Development Board (EDB) is the lead agency mandated by the Government to provide institutional support for strategic economic planning and to promote Mauritius as an attractive investment and business center, a competitive export platform as well as an international financial center. It also acts as the main institution responsible for country branding, investment promotion and facilitates both inward and outward investment, and fosters a conducive business environment.
As part of its functions, the EDB has spearheaded the development of the National Electronic Licensing System (NELS) to improve the investment and doing business climate in Mauritius. The NELS aims to be a single entry point for the application, payment, processing, and determination of business-related licenses in Mauritius. Over 20 Public Sectors Agencies including ministries are connected on the NELS platform.
